The Clinical Anatomy (Intercalated degree) MSci program offers students the opportunity to deepen their understanding of anatomy and its significance in modern clinical medicine. This intercalated degree is available for students studying Medicine or Dentistry, allowing them to take a break from their degree for a year to elevate their anatomical knowledge.

• Written and oral examinations, including oral examination over dissected specimen
• Submission of a logbook of dissection
• Poster and reflection/interview/theatre presentations
• Supervisors report
• 15,000-word dissertation
• 10-minute research project presentation with questions

Module Information

The modules listed for this program are regularly reviewed to ensure they are up-to-date and informed by the latest research and teaching methods. Compulsory modules include:

• Anatomy in the Clinical Environment (20 credits, Term 2)
• Embryological and Developmental Basis of Disease (20 credits, Term 1)
• Form, Function and Dysfunction (30 credits, Term 1)
• Project (50 credits, Full Term)

Entry Requirements

• Available for students studying Medicine or Dentistry
• Students must be in year 3 or 4 of their medical degree, or year 2 in their Dental degree
• This course is only available to internal or external students currently studying Medicine or Dentistry looking to intercalate between years 3 and 4, or years 4 and 5

Fees and Scholarships

• £9,535 (Home students)
• For students studying in the UK and paying overseas fees, they will still pay overseas fees during their intercalation year
• Undergraduate loans are available to help with the cost of studies

Career Opportunities

Preparation for a career in medicine should be a major consideration as students proceed through Medical School. The program provides opportunities to produce international conference presentations and academic publications through research projects. These educational achievements are well recognized in applications for Foundation Programme and Academic Foundation Programmes at the start of post-graduate medical training.
