Program Overview

The University of Birmingham Dubai offers a five-year MEng Computer Science and Software Engineering with Integrated Foundation Year program. This program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the global IT industry.

Program Structure

The program is a full-time, five-year course featuring lectures, labs, and tutorials. The course structure includes hands-on learning and comprehensive academic guidance. Students will spend the first four years in Dubai and the final year in Birmingham.

Foundation Year

The Foundation Year will prepare students for the MEng program by covering mathematics, programming, calculus, statistics, and data analysis, as well as academic English. Students will receive ongoing support to ensure progression onto the Computer Science and Software Engineering MEng program.

Course Delivery

Each module is assessed on its own, with some using continuous assessment and others being entirely coursework-based. Students will face various assessment methods, including exams, written assignments, presentations, computer tests, exercises, and project reports.

Module Information

The modules listed for this program are regularly reviewed to ensure they are up-to-date and informed by the latest research and teaching methods. The program is a 5-year full-time taught MEng degree with an Integrated Foundation Year. Students are expected to complete 120 credits a year.

Entry Requirements

To secure a place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, students must meet both the general entry requirements and the specific criteria for their chosen course. The application will be carefully reviewed by the course's Admissions Tutor.

• A Level: BBB - BCC to include Maths
• IB: 5,5,4, with a total of 28 points, or 554 at HL with 24 overall, and no subject requirements except for the Engineering and Physical Science Pathway, where a 5 in Mathematics at SL or HL would be required.

Fees and Scholarships

The University tuition fee covers the cost of tuition, examination, and graduation.

• AED 124,343 per year (full-time) for January 2026 entry
• AED 134,922 per year (full-time) for September 2026/January 2027 entry The above fee applies to the Foundation Year only. Subsequent year's annual tuition fee for the program will be AED 156,718/year for September 2026/January 2027 entry.
