Program Overview
Endodontics MSc
The Endodontics MSc program at the University of Birmingham is designed to expand your area of expertise with advanced practice in endodontics. This program is led by Professor Josette Camilleri, an internationally renowned clinician and researcher.
Course Overview
The program includes advanced clinical training and cutting-edge research, guided by renowned experts. You will learn the theory and practical aspects of vital pulp therapy, root canal therapy, and the perio-endo-restorative interface to enable you to confidently undertake treatments in your clinical practice.
Course Structure
The course is run over three years part-time with an option to exit at the end of each year leading to the award of a PGCert, PGDip, or MSc. The program consists of eight modules, six of which are delivered online and two include a residential week, alongside tutorials, independent study, and clinical practice.
Year 1
- Endodontic Diagnosis and Vital Pulp Therapy (20 credits, Semester 1)
- Practical Aspects of Root Canal Therapy (20 credits, Full Term)
- Root Canal Therapy (20 credits, Semester 2)
Year 2
- The Perio-endo-restorative Interface (20 credits, Semester 2)
- Advanced Materials (20 credits, Semester 1)
- Practical Aspects of the Perio-endo Restorative Interface (20 credits, Full Term)
Year 3
- Clinical Portfolio (20 credits, Semester 2)
- Research Project (40 credits, Semester 2)

Entry Requirements
- 2:1 Honours degree in Dentistry from a recognised institution
- Registration with a national general dental council
- Proven employment as a dentist in a practice, university, or national health service
- English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band
Fees and Scholarships
- Annual tuition fee: £11,600
- Tuition fee deposits for international students: £3,000
- Scholarships: Birmingham Masters Scholarships award £3,000 to more than 300 students each year
