The Financial Data Science (Dubai) MSc program is designed to propel careers in the financial sector to new heights. With a blend of finance, mathematics, statistics, and data science, students gain practical experience in harnessing data to inform decisions.
Program Structure
The MSc is a 12-month full-time taught master's degree (180 credits) consisting of 120 credits of taught modules and a 60 credit research project. The dissertation is completed under the direction of a project supervisor, providing the opportunity to work one-to-one with a leading expert in the field.
Semester 1
During this term, students build a solid foundation in Financial Data Science, exploring topics such as:
- Mathematical modelling of randomness
- Data visualisation
- Deep learning and neural networks
- Foundations of data analysis, statistical principles, and techniques
Semester 2
Students continue to develop their skills in Financial Data Science, with a focus on:
- Advanced statistical inference
- Mathematical finance
- Statistical machine learning
- Stochastic processes
- Time series and prediction
Research Project
The 60-credit research module provides the opportunity to apply knowledge to an independent research project. This involves:
- Selecting a topic of interest within Financial Data Science
- Critical analysis of the problem under investigation in the context of known literature
- Description of the methods used or developed
- Presentation of the final result

Entry Requirements
To secure a place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, students must meet both general entry requirements and specific criteria for the chosen course. The application will be carefully reviewed by the course's Admissions Tutor.
- 2:1 Honours Degree in Mathematics and/or Statistics or a programme with advanced mathematical and/or statistical components
- English language requirements: IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications
Fees and Scholarships
- Full-time (September 2026): AED 166,356 per year
- Part-time (September 2026): AED 83,178 per year
