The MA Education (Inclusion and Special Educational Needs) at the University of Birmingham Dubai equips students with the expertise to create supportive learning environments, making a real difference in diverse educational settings.   • It is designed for working professionals, with flexible evening classes and monthly Saturday sessions.
  • The MA program comprises 120 credits of taught material, while the PGCert comprises 60 credits.
  • Modules are delivered through a combination of evening classes, online lectures, and weekend sessions, followed by a 60-credit Master’s Dissertation.

Course Structure

  • Year 1 MA/PGCert: Students study inclusion from cultural policy and disability-specific lens. Both MA and PGCert students learn together during in-person seminars.
  • PG Certificate Education: The following modules must be taken:
    • Cross-Cultural Issues in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (20 credits)
    • Evaluation and Policy Analysis for Inclusive Education (20 credits)
    • Inclusion: Universal and Specialist Approaches (20 credits)

Entry Requirements

  • A degree (equivalent to a UK Bachelors Degree of at least 2:2 or above) or a recognized equivalent qualification.
  • Two references, one academic and one professional, confirming the applicant's current role in an educational setting and evidencing their motivation and ability to study.
  • A Personal Statement (minimum 500 - 700 words) on motivation for and commitment to wanting to complete this program of study.
  • English language proficiency: IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications, with a score of 6.5 overall and a minimum of 6 across all four areas of reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
