Program Overview
The Mechanical Engineering (Dubai) BEng program at the University of Birmingham Dubai is designed to prepare students for a career with global opportunities. The program is accredited by the United Arab Emirates Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.
Course Structure
The program runs over three years full-time, consisting of lectures, tutorials, assignments, laboratory work, quizzes, and project work, collaboratively supervised by research-led academics and industry engineers.
Year 1
In Year One, students build a strong foundation in engineering principles, enhancing their understanding of behavior, policy, entrepreneurship, and global perspectives. They engage in flexible educational models and explore essential mechanical engineering fundamentals. An option to study in the UK is available for the second year.
Course Highlights
The program allows students to begin with core mechanical engineering subjects and then develop the expertise to tackle real-world problems using theoretical and practical knowledge and specialized engineering software. Students can benefit from state-of-the-art facilities on the new, technology-enhanced 'smart' campus in Dubai and have the opportunity to spend their second year on the beautiful Birmingham campus.

Entry Requirements
To secure a place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, students must meet both the general entry requirements and the specific criteria for their chosen course.
- A Level: AAB - ABB, 3 A Levels, including Mathematics
- IB: 6,6,5 - 6,5,5 at Higher Level to include 6 in Mathematics with a minimum of 32 points overall
- English language requirements: IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications
Fees and Scholarships
The University tuition fee covers the cost of tuition, examination, and graduation.
- AED 149,106 per year (full-time, September 2026)
- Tuition fees can be paid in full or in three installments per year of study
