Entry Requirements

To secure a place at Birmingham, students must meet the general entry requirements as well as those specific to the course. The requirements include:

• A Level: A*AA with predicted AAA, including Chemistry and a second science from Biology/Physics/Maths
• IB: 7,6,6 at Higher Level, including Chemistry and a second science from Biology/Physics/Maths
• GCSE: English Language at grade 6/B or higher, Mathematics at grade 6/B or higher, Biology and Chemistry or dual award science at grade 6/B or higher
• International Baccalaureate: Higher level, 7,6,6 to include Chemistry plus a second science from Biology/Physics/Maths and one other approved subject
• Minimum age requirement: 18 years old on 1 October of the year of entry
• English language requirements: IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English, or Cambridge English

Fees and Scholarships

The University tuition fee covers the cost of tuition, examination, and graduation. The fee for domestic students is £9,535 per year for 2026/27. Additional course costs include living expenses, travel, and equipment. Scholarships, grants, and bursaries are available to support students.
