Entry Requirements
To secure a place at Birmingham, students need to meet the general entry requirements as well as those specific to the course. The requirements include:
- A Level: AAA /AAAA to include A-level Mathematics and A-level Physics grades AA (or AA as part of the four A level offer)
- IB: 7,6,6 at HL, to include Mathematics and Physics, with a minimum of 32 points overall
- BTEC: options considered when combined with other Maths and Physics qualifications
- Extended Project Qualification (EPQ): applicants who take the EPQ and meet the offer criteria will be made the typical offer for their programme of choice, plus an alternative offer which will be one grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ
- Foundation Year: available for students who lack the entry qualifications
- English language requirements: IELTS, TOEFL, Pearson Test of English, or Cambridge English
Fees and Scholarships
The University tuition fee covers the cost of tuition, examination, and graduation, and includes membership of the Guild of Students. The fee for domestic (UK) students for 2026/27 is £9,535 per year. Scholarships, grants, and bursaries are available to help with the cost of studies.
