Program Overview

The Root Canal Therapy short course covers all aspects of endodontic therapy, from access cavity preparation to canal preparation and disinfection, and obturation. This course provides a comprehensive understanding of contemporary evidence-based methods and techniques, enabling participants to adapt different methodologies for various clinical cases.

Course Content

On completion, participants should be able to:


  • Plan a clinical case, identifying complexity and applying learned techniques.
  • Plan and discuss the rationale for adopting the correct access cavity, including knowledge of canal location and strategies for canal identification.
  • Critically review techniques and protocols for producing consistent tapered root canal preparations.
  • Discuss the reasons and methodology for obturating the root canal, including the advantages and disadvantages of different techniques.
  • Understand the roles and variety of irrigants and lubricants available for canal preparation, and the use of disinfectants in managing endodontic infections.

Course Structure

  • The course is composed of a series of lectures.
  • Participants will undertake independent clinical hours and study related to the topic.

Assessment

  • Case Write-up: 2,000 words, including 500 words dedicated to reflections on the management strategy and how the knowledge gained has helped enhance practice.
