Program Overview
Master 2 Chemistry and Materials Science
The Master 2 Chemistry and Materials Science - Materials and Sustainable Development (MSD) course aims to train materials science experts for academic and industrial research in the healthcare, energy, and transport fields. Through this program, students acquire the following skills:
- Maintain a technological watch on the research and development of new materials and processes
- Develop strategies for the elaboration of innovative materials through clean processes in line with sustainable development
- Conduct a research project in an international environment
Program
The MSD Master 2 Chemistry and Materials Science is a one-year international master's degree (60 ECTS) consisting of theoretical teaching (33 ECTS) and a 5- to 6-month internship (27 ECTS) in an industrial or academic research laboratory.
Teaching
Common Courses
- Viscoelasticity of polymers
- Structural and chemical characterization (X-ray and electron)
- Materials and process design and selection
- Eco-design
- Project management
- English
Elective Courses
Students choose 5 teaching units from 15 covering polymers, glass, metals, ceramics, and composite materials for applications in health, energy, and transport in relation to sustainable development.
Internship
Students must complete a 5-6 month end-of-year internship. The work of the master's internship focuses on nano- or biotechnology-related subjects within a company or laboratory (in France or abroad).
Diploma and Certification
This course delivers a national master's degree - controlled by the State.
Career Opportunities
The diploma leads to executive and/or expert positions in research and development (R&D) in the materials field.
Focus
A master's degree co-accredited with Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1. As part of this partnership, some courses will take place on the campus of Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1.
