University of Fribourg Master's Program in Business Communication

The Master's program in Business Communication at the University of Fribourg is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the field of business communication. The program focuses on the interactive and digital aspects of communication, providing students with a comprehensive understanding of the risks and opportunities of digitalization.


Program Description

The program consists of two modules. The first module is compulsory and examines three aspects of communication in greater depth: strategic communication, digitalization and use of media, and communication in a digital and media context. The second module is optional and allows students to acquire multidisciplinary skills in areas such as human resources, financial management, ethics in development and global change, social computing, and more.


Learning Outcomes and Career Prospects

Upon completing the Master's program in Business Communication, students will be equipped for positions of responsibility in information and communication in a business context. The program also provides academic prospects, such as scientific research worker, and gives access to doctoral studies. According to a survey, 67% of alumni found a job within three months of completing their studies, and 87% had found a job within six months.


Structure of Studies

The program requires 60 ECTS credits in the compulsory module and 30 ECTS credits in the optional module, which can be completed in 3 or 4 semesters.


Admission

Master's degree programs are built on the knowledge and abilities acquired when obtaining a Bachelor's degree. Holders of a Bachelor's degree awarded by a Swiss university are admitted to a Master's degree program without preconditions if they have earned 60 or 90 ECTS credits within the corresponding discipline. Holders of a Bachelor's degree awarded by a foreign university, provided that the Bachelor's degree is recognized and considered equivalent by the University of Fribourg, can be admitted to a Master's degree program with preconditions and/or additional requirements.


Languages of Study

The program is offered in French, German, and English, providing students with the opportunity to study in a bilingual or trilingual environment.

The program offers an option for an award bearing the distinction "Bilingual curriculum, French/German" or a mention of the languages of study on the diploma.
