Program Overview

The master's program in Culture and Economy allows students to build on their expertise acquired in the bachelor's program and enhance their knowledge of Cultural Studies and Business Administration or Economics. The program consists of a major in Italian Studies and a combination major in Business Administration or Economics.


  • The major, Italian Studies, offers students the opportunity to specialize in Linguistics and/or Literary Studies, providing an in-depth and critical examination of the Italian-speaking cultural area.
  • Students can also take an intercultural practice module involving an additional Romance language, which can be studied in two to five foreign language skills courses.
  • The specialist subject can be either Business Administration or Economics, depending on the student's prior knowledge.
  • Students can choose from various modules in Marketing and Management if they study Business Administration, or broaden their basic knowledge of Economics by taking advanced courses.

Admission Requirements and Selection

    • Completion of a bachelor's program in Culture and Economy: Italian Studies or a recognized equivalent program
    • Grade of "good" or better (equivalent to the German grade of 2.5)
    • At least 180 ECTS credits or a standard period of study of at least three years
    • Proficiency in Italian (Level C1)
    • Proof of proficiency in German
  • Selection criteria: The selection criteria are irrelevant since this program of study is currently not selective.
