Introduction to the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program

The Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at Tufts University School of Medicine is designed to prepare students for a career in physical therapy. The program is offered in Seattle, Washington, and is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE).

Application Process

To apply to the DPT program, students must submit an application through the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS). The application window for the cohort beginning in Fall 2026 is as follows:

• Application Opens: June 16, 2025
• Priority Deadline: November 3, 2025
• Final Deadline: March 16, 2026

Application Requirements

The following materials are required for a complete application:

• Transcripts: Official transcripts are accepted through the PTCAS application.
• Graduate Record Examination (GRE) - Optional: The GRE is not required for admission, but applicants may choose to submit their scores.
• Two Letters of Recommendation: Each evaluator will be able to submit their letter of recommendation electronically.
• Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), if applicable: Applicants whose native language is not English are required to submit evidence of proficiency in one of three ways.

• General Biology II
• General Chemistry I
• General Chemistry II
• General Physics I
• General Physics II
• One Psychology Requirement
• Human Anatomy and Physiology I
• Human Anatomy and Physiology II
• Statistics or Research Design

Technical Standards and Essential Functions

Physical therapy is a mentally, physically, and psychologically demanding profession. All graduates must meet a standard level of competence across all domains defined in the curriculum, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Tuition and Financial Aid

Tuition rates and fees for the DPT program are as follows:

• Tuition: $18,571 per semester (flat-rate)
• Fees: Fall I: $54, Fall II: $68, Spring: $292
