Course Overview
The Master's Courses in Dementia Care for Physicians comprise eight courses:
- Neuroscience Basis for Cognition and Behaviour (5 credits)
- Dementia Disorders (10 credits)
- Diagnostics and Medical Investigations (10 credits)
- Treatment and Evaluation (5 credits)
- Treatment of Disease Process Including Behavioural and Psychiatric Symptoms (5 credits)
- Palliative Medicine (3 credits)
- Quality Assurance and Prioritizations within Dementia Care (6 credits)
- Degree Project for Master's Degree in Medicine - Dementia Care (15 credits)
Course Details
Neuroscience Basis for Cognition and Behaviour (5 credits)
This course provides students with the knowledge they need about the brain in their work with dementia diseases.
Dementia Disorders (10 credits)
This course represents a large and important part of the program, where students develop their knowledge and understanding of dementia disorders.
Diagnostics and Medical Investigations (10 credits)
This course addresses the section Dementia investigation, where the content of dementia diagnostics is highlighted.
Treatment and Evaluation (5 credits)
This course addresses how students can follow and support patients with dementia disorders during the course of the disease.
Treatment of Disease Process Including Behavioural and Psychiatric Symptoms (5 credits)
This course includes two parts: treatment/attitude in practice, and medico-legal aspects, respectively.
Palliative Medicine (3 credits)
This course deals with important issues that are relevant for the end-of-life care of patients with dementia disorders.
Quality Assurance and Prioritizations within Dementia Care (6 credits)
This course focuses on highlighting the healthcare system's ability to efficiently and with quality meet the needs and guidelines found in the field of dementia.
Degree Project for Master's Degree in Medicine - Dementia Care (15 credits)
This final course is the degree project, where students apply their knowledge and skills in a research-based project.
