Course Description

The course is part of the six-year medical program at Karolinska Institutet and focuses on the deepening and broadening of knowledge, skills, and attitudes within the field of internal medicine and rheumatology. It also covers infectious diseases, dermatology, clinical pharmacology, geriatrics, and general medicine.


Teaching Methods

The course combines theoretical teaching with clinical practice, including team-based learning, lectures, seminars, simulations, skill training, interprofessional learning, case-based teaching, and reflection seminars.


Clinical Practice

Students participate in two periods of clinical practice (VFU), where they deepen and apply previously acquired knowledge and skills. The clinical practice includes placements in internal medicine, rheumatology, geriatrics, primary care, and emergency care.


Examination

The course includes a written exam and an OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination).
