Master's Programme in Nutrition Science
The Master's Programme in Nutrition Science is an expanding, interdisciplinary field that studies the role of diet in human health. The programme gives students in-depth knowledge of its scientific basis and research methods in the field. This knowledge prepares students for qualified work that relates to nutrition and also for continued doctoral education.

About the Programme
The Master's Programme in Nutrition Science aims to give students a broad understanding of the role of diet in human health, and in-depth knowledge of the scientific basis and research methods in the field. As a graduate, students will be prepared for various career paths in an expanding field.
Programme Structure
The first year of the programme covers:
- The associations between diet and health
- The evidence behind diet and physical activity recommendations
- Sustainability considerations
- Molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying the impact of diet on the human body
- Assessment methodology for dietary intake, physical activity, and fitness
The second year allows students to choose a 30-, 45-, or 60-credit degree project in their area of interest within various fields of nutrition research. Depending on the length of the degree project, students can include up to 30 credits of elective courses.
Specific Eligibility Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree or a professional degree equivalent to a Swedish Bachelor's degree of at least 180 credits in biomedicine, cellular and molecular biology, pharmaceutics, medicine, nutrition, or the equivalent.
- Proficiency in English equivalent to English B/English 6.
Selection
The selection is based on an overall assessment of the applicant's qualifications, such as previous education, relevant work and/or research experience, and statement of intent.
Fees
- Application fee: 900 SEK
- Tuition fee: Total amount 400,000 SEK, with the first instalment being 100,000 SEK.

Upon completion of the programme, students will:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding in the main field of study
- Demonstrate specialised methodological knowledge in the main field of study
- Demonstrate the ability to critically and systematically integrate knowledge and analyse complex phenomena
- Demonstrate the ability to identify and formulate issues critically, autonomously, and creatively
Career
The programme provides a solid foundation for a career in the nutrition field, both in the public and private sector. Graduates can pursue roles in governmental agencies, community-based organisations, the food and pharmacy industry, or do consulting work, both nationally and internationally. The programme also prepares students for continued studies at the doctoral level (PhD) and research-related occupations.
