Program Overview
The Optician Program at Karolinska Institutet is a comprehensive education that covers various aspects of optometry and vision care. The program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in the theoretical and practical aspects of optometry, preparing them for a career as opticians.

Program Organization
The program is led by a Program Director (PD) who is responsible for the overall management and development of the program. The PD works closely with the Program Council, which consists of representatives from the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology, and the Department of Neurosciences.
Program Council
The Program Council is responsible for:
- Handling suggestions for improvement
- Following up on course evaluations
- Developing the program's content and structure
- Preparing program-specific issues for decision in the Education Committee
- Revising course plans for decision in the Education Committee
- Deciding on certain revisions of course plans on delegation from the Education Committee
- Supporting the Program Director
Student Representation
Students are encouraged to participate in the program's development by attending Program Council meetings and providing feedback on the program. Student representatives are elected by the student union, Kaustika, and serve as a link between the students and the program management.
Quality Assurance
The program has a robust quality assurance system in place, which includes regular course evaluations and program analyses. The results of these evaluations are used to improve the program and to ensure that it meets the highest standards of quality.
