Supervision in clinical psychology and psychotherapy is an important part of training for people who will work with psychological assessment, treatment and psychotherapy. This course provides the opportunity for participants to deepen their knowledge and skills in supervision methodology as it is applied in education. The course is aimed at specialist psychologists and licensed psychotherapists and should provide skills to take on clinical supervision within, for example, universities and colleges.
About the course
The course is aimed at people who will carry out clinical supervision in connection with education. The aim is for the participants to develop skills and abilities to create good supervision situations in connection with education. The participants are expected to have assignments in higher education for clinically active people who are trained in psychological and psychotherapeutic treatment.
Target group
The course is aimed at specialist psychologists and licensed psychotherapists who, in their professional activities, will supervise clinical courses in psychology and psychotherapy. The course is an in-depth continuation of the course: Tutorial in clinical psychology, 15 credits.
Objectives of the course
- To be able to conduct clinical supervision in a professional manner within the framework of higher education.
- To develop in their role as clinical supervisor with particular focus on assessment of skills in clinical psychology in an educational context.
- To develop an approach that creates favorable learning situations in connection with educational supervision.
- To provide skills in higher education pedagogy to be able to supervise in clinical psychology at different levels of education.

Authority
As a qualification for psychologists, the psychologist association's specialist qualification is required, alternatively a license as a psychotherapist. For the professional categories of psychiatrists, specialist nurses in psychiatry and sociologists, the National Board of Health and Welfare's identification as a psychotherapist is also required. The course Supervision in clinical psychology, 15 credits or equivalent, is also a requirement.
Course structure
The training begins with web-based teaching and study guidance regarding the type of assignments that are suitable for the course. As the course is based on the participants developing skills in supervision, they must have their own supervision assignments that take place during the course.
Price
The course is free of charge for employees in psychiatry SLSO, units in psychiatry procured by the Health and Medical Administration (Stockholm) and employees in psychiatry in Region Gotland.

The course responsible for the course is Åsa Spännargård, licensed psychologist, licensed psychotherapist, specialist in clinical psychology, trained supervisor and teacher in psychotherapy.
Responsible institution
The course is given by the Competence Center for Psychotherapy, which is part of the Center for Psychiatry Research. The Center for Psychiatry Research is a collaborative organization with two principals, the Karolinska Institute (Department of Clinical Neuroscience) and the Stockholm County Health Care District.
