Prerequisites and Deadline for Applying for the Bachelor’s Thesis
- The application for the bachelor’s thesis must be submitted once all required modules for admission have been successfully completed and the number of semesters allotted for these modules has been exceeded.
- The application for the bachelor’s thesis must be submitted no later than four weeks after passing the last module exam.
Admission Requirements
- Eligibility for the bachelor’s thesis requires earning 120 ECTS credits and writing a seminar paper graded at least 4.0.
- Students must be enrolled at the University of Hamburg at the time of registration for the bachelor’s thesis, as well as during the processing period and upon submission.
Registration for the Bachelor’s Thesis
- The bachelor’s thesis is to be written in the 6th semester.
- Students must register for the bachelor’s thesis using the form "Application for Admission to the Bachelor’s Thesis (B.Sc. Business Administration)".
- Students must complete and sign the form and send it to the Academic Office via email to verify the minimum requirement of 120 ECTS credits and the completion of a seminar paper graded at least 4.0.
Process of Registering for the Bachelor’s Thesis
- Students must contact their supervisors to discuss and agree on a topic for the bachelor’s thesis.
- The topic assignment for the bachelor’s thesis is handled directly by the individual departments or specializations.
- The fully completed form is forwarded to the Academic Office.
Formal Requirements for the Bachelor’s Thesis
- The document should have the DIN A4 format and can be written in German or English.
- The scope of the thesis should be discussed with the supervisors.
- The first page of the thesis must remain blank.
- The following cover page should include:
- title of the thesis
- name, matriculation number, and degree program of the author
- Name of the examiner / first reviewer
- The date of submission approved and the time of registration
- The last page of the thesis must contain a handwritten declaration affirming that the work was created solely with the sources and aids listed.
Submission of the Bachelor’s Thesis
- The thesis must be submitted in electronic/digital form via UHH Cloud.
- The binding deadline is considered met if the bachelor’s thesis is uploaded to UHH Cloud by 11:59 PM on the day of the deadline.
- If the deadline is missed, the thesis is rated as "not sufficient" (grade 5.0).
Assessment / Repetition of the Bachelor’s Thesis in case of failure
- The evaluation of the bachelor’s thesis should be done by both examiners immediately, but no later than three months after submission.
- If the overall grade is "not sufficient" (5.0), the bachelor’s thesis can be repeated once.
- The repetition must be applied for and officially registered within four weeks after the notification of the negative result, and the work must be recommenced accordingly.
