Introduction to the Joint Law Program (Hamburg/Istanbul)
The Joint Law Program (Hamburg/Istanbul) is an integrated international program with a double degree, offered by the University of Hamburg in collaboration with the leading Turkish law faculty of Istanbul University. The program lasts for 8 semesters and can be started in the winter semester. After successful completion, students receive two degrees: "Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.)" from the University of Hamburg and "Hukuk Lisans" from Istanbul University.
Program Overview

Admission Requirements
- To be admitted to the program through the University of Hamburg, applicants must have a higher education entrance qualification (e.g., Abitur) and proof of sufficient Turkish language skills (at least B2 level).
- The application period is from June 1 to July 15 of each year, and applications are submitted online through the DoSV procedure.
Prerequisites for Enrollment
- Proof of Turkish language skills must be provided at the time of enrollment, with a minimum B2 level required.
- Native speakers are not exempt and must also provide a language certificate.

- Fortgeschrittenenzertifikat (Yüksek Sertifika) from the TÖMER language school
- Bescheinigung über ausreichende türkische Sprachkenntnisse (Türkçe Yeterlilik Belgesi) from the Yunus Emre Institute
- Certificate from the language center of Istanbul University
Program Completion and Degrees
- The program leads to two degrees: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) and Hukuk Lisans.
- After completing the program, students can pursue further studies in Germany to obtain the First State Examination in Law, followed by a two-year preparatory service and the Second State Examination in Law.
- The Hukuk Lisans degree is the first requirement for students to take the Juristische Berufseingangsprüfung (HMGS) in Turkey, which is necessary for careers such as lawyer, judge, or prosecutor.
