Program Overview
The Bachelor of Arts in Education and Educational Science is a six-semester program that provides students with a comprehensive education in the field of education. The program is designed to equip students with the theoretical and methodological foundations of educational science, as well as practical skills and competencies in a chosen area of specialization.
Program Structure
The program consists of a main subject, a minor subject, a cross-disciplinary area, and an elective area. The main subject is Education and Educational Science, which includes courses in general education, educational psychology, and a chosen area of specialization. The minor subject can be chosen from a range of fields, including psychology, sociology, and philosophy. The cross-disciplinary area includes courses in study and career orientation, as well as a practical internship. The elective area allows students to choose courses from other faculties or departments.
Areas of Specialization
Students can choose from three areas of specialization:
- Sozialpädagogik/Kinder- und Jugendbildung (Social Pedagogy/Child and Youth Education)
- Erwachsenen- und Weiterbildung (Adult and Continuing Education)
- Behindertenpädagogik – Inklusion und Partizipation bei Behinderung und Benachteiligung (Special Needs Education – Inclusion and Participation for People with Disabilities and Disadvantages)
Admission Requirements
Admission to the program requires a high school diploma or equivalent. International students must also demonstrate proficiency in German. The program has a limited number of places available, and admission is based on a selection process.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the program can pursue careers in a range of fields, including education, social work, and adult education. They can also go on to study for a master's degree in education or a related field.
Prerequisites for the Bachelor's Thesis
To be eligible to write a bachelor's thesis, students must have completed all the required coursework and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0. The thesis must be written in German and must demonstrate the student's ability to conduct independent research and analysis.
Internship
The program includes a practical internship, which is usually completed during the summer semester. The internship provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in a chosen field and to apply the theoretical knowledge they have acquired during their studies.
Study Abroad
Students can spend one or more semesters studying abroad, either through the Erasmus program or through other exchange programs. The university has partnerships with a range of universities around the world, and students can choose from a variety of destinations.

Orientierungseinheit für Studienanfänger:innen
