Introduction to the Trans Mediterranean Data Science Double Degree

The Trans Mediterranean Data Science Double Degree (TMDS) program is a collaborative effort between the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Facultat d’Informàtica de Barcelona (FIB) in Barcelona, Spain, and the Università degli Studi di Padova in Padova, Italy. This program is jointly operated by the University of Padova and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

Program Overview

By participating in the TMDS program, students receive two Master’s degrees in Data Science:

• Master’s degree in Data Science from the University of Padova
• Master’s degree in Data Science from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya

Requirements

The TMDS curriculum is designed for five Master’s students interested in Data Science. To apply for the TMDS program, students must meet the following requirements:

• Fill out the application form
• Complete the declaration form

Program Structure

The program consists of 120 ECTS credits, acquired over two years. The structure of the program is as follows:

• Students spend the first and second semesters at their home university
• Students spend the third and fourth semesters at the host university
• The language of instruction for the double degree is English in both institutions
• The Master’s thesis must be prepared at the partner institution and will be jointly supervised by two professors – one from the partner institution and one from the home university

Employment Prospects

Upon completion of the program, graduates will receive a Master’s degree in Data Science from both the University of Padua and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. This degree will provide students with a strong position to apply to high-level doctoral programs worldwide or for jobs in companies looking for a data scientist with solid international experience and a deep understanding of:
