Program Overview

The University of Padua offers a course in Diagnosi di laboratorio e clinica in trombosi ed emostasi, which aims to update medical, biological, nursing, and laboratory professionals on the notions of diagnosis and management of the main diseases of hemostasis.


Program Description

The course provides theoretical and practical knowledge for the execution and interpretation of laboratory tests. It covers the technique of executing laboratory tests and allows students to learn the interpretation of results through practical stages, where they can apply the indication and application of laboratory tests within diagnostic algorithms to arrive at the diagnosis of hemostasis diseases.

The course is designed for graduates in medicine and surgery, biological sciences, chemistry, and pharmaceutical chemistry, as well as students with a university diploma in biology, nursing sciences, laboratory techniques, chemical and biological analysis, biomedical engineering, and pharmaceutical technologies.

Teaching 1: FISIOPATOLOGIA DELL’EMOSTASI E PRINCIPALI TEST DI LABORATORIO

  • Fisiologia del sistema coagulativo
  • Fisiopatologia dell’emostasi
  • Overview dei principali test di laboratorio in emostasi e trombosi

Teaching 2: EPIDEMIOLOGIA E DIAGNOSI DELLE MALATTIE EMORRAGICHE

  • Epidemiologia, clinica, diagnosi, and cenni di terapia delle coagulopatia emorragiche congenite (emofilia, malattia di von Willebrand, disordini emorragici rari) and acquisite (emofilia acquisita, coagulazione intravascolare disseminata, coagulopatia cirrotica, coagulopatia da farmaci)

Teaching 3: EPIDEMIOLOGIA E DIAGNOSI DELLE MALATTIE TROMBOTICHE

  • Epidemiologia, clinica, diagnosi, and cenni di terapia della malattia tromboembolica venosa and discussione dei fattori di rischio congeniti ed acquisiti

Teaching 4: IL LABORATORIO NEGLI ALGORITMI DIAGNOSTICI DELLE MALATTIE DELL’EMOSTASI

  • Discussione degli algoritmi diagnostici nelle malattie trombotiche ed emorragiche
  • Applicazione ed interpretazione dei test di laboratorio nei diversi algoritmi diagnostici
  • Appropriatezza della richiesta dei test di laboratorio

Teaching 5: IL LABORATORIO NELLA DIAGNOSI DELLE TROMBOFILIE CONGENITE ED ACQUISITE

  • Test per la diagnosi dei difetti di inibitori della coagulazione
  • Test per il dosaggio degli anticorpi antifosfolipi
  • Test funzionali e antigenici

Teaching 6: BIOLOGIA MOLECOLARE NEL LABORATORIO DI EMOSTASI E TEST DI TROMBINOGENERAZIONE

  • Tecniche di biologia molecolare nel laboratorio di trombosi ed emostasi
  • Principi di funzionamento del test di trombino-generazione and applicazione del test nella malattia dell’emostasi

Teaching 7: TEST GLOBALI DI COAGULAZIONE E COLTURE CELLULARI

  • Principi di funzionamento dei test globali della coagulazione (tromboelastometria ed aggregometria piastrinica su sangue intero)
  • Utilità clinica dei test globali in emostasi e trombosi
  • Modelli di coltura cellulare and microscopia applicati alle malattie emorragiche

Teaching 8: QUALITÀ NEL LABORATORIO DI EMOSTASI E TROMBOSI

  • Programma di qualità generale
  • Qualità nei test di coagulazione
  • Qualità nei test di trombofilia ed emofilia and monitoraggio degli anticoagulanti

Teaching 9: IMMUNOTROMBOSI: ASPETTI FISIOPATOLOGICI E LABORATORIO. IMMUNOTROMBOSI: ASPETTI CLINICI E TERAPEUTICI

  • L’attivazione aberrante o incontrollata dell’immunotrombosi costituisce un importante processo biologico alla base di diverse forme di trombosi patologica, tra cui la sindrome da anticorpi antisfosfolipidi, le vasculiti, l’ictus, l’infarto
  • Saranno trattati gli aspetti fisiopatologici and laboratoristici dell’immunotrombosi, oltrechè quanto concerne le varie e molteplici presentazioni cliniche

  • A general quality program is included, with quality in coagulation tests, thrombophilia and hemophilia tests, and monitoring of anticoagulants.
