Program Overview


Introduction to the ETNOPSI Program

The ETNOPSI program, or Etnopsicologia clinica e di comunità, is a course of perfection designed to address the growing cultural diversity due to migration flows, requiring special attention to the mental health of individuals with diverse backgrounds. This is crucial for prevention, health promotion, diagnosis, and effective treatment, as well as for managing various social inclusion processes.


Program Description

The program is aimed at psychologists, psychotherapists, and professionals working with people from different cultural backgrounds, contributing to the renewal of current services. It provides conceptual, methodological, and operational elements necessary for relating and interacting with individuals from diverse cultures.


Formative Contents

The program develops in three thematic areas:


  • Fondamenti dell'etnopsicologia clinica e comunitaria: This area covers the main assumptions regarding ethnopsychology and the main conceptualizations regarding health and interculture.
  • Etnopsicologia e ambito umanitario: This area describes operational interventions in the field of humanitarian psychology, such as refugee reception, intervention towards migrants and trafficking, and national and international mental health services.
  • Etnopsicologia, welfare, servizi sociali e clinici: This area exposes the main operational interventions with users and patients from different backgrounds.

Program Structure

The program includes 17 modules, each focusing on a specific aspect of ethnopsychology, from introductory principles to applied ethnopsychology in services. These modules are designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of ethnopsychology and its applications.

  1. Introduzione e principi concettuali: Description of the foundational assumptions of ethnopsychology.
  2. Modelli interculturali: dalla segregazione all'interculturalità: Description of models and conceptual systems regarding culture.
  3. Etnopsicologia e salute: Presentation of conceptualizations on health and social cohesion.
  4. Diritti umani e diversità culturale: Presentation of elements of the human rights framework.
  5. Nuovi sistemi conoscitivi: il Power Threat Meaning Framework: Description and presentation of a new diagnostic framework in the clinical field.
  6. Psicologia della liberazione: Description of the psychology of liberation and examples regarding the role of minorities and oppressed communities.
  7. L'accoglienza dei rifugiati in ottica comunitaria: Presentation of normative references and main interventions towards refugees.
  8. Migrazione e tratte: Presentation of interventions towards migrants and trafficking.
  9. Psicologia in ambito umanitario: Description of interventions in the humanitarian field and project designs at the national and international level.
  10. Etnopsicologia e scuola: casi e situazioni cliniche con utenti con background differente: Presentation of interventions towards students of the second generation and case studies regarding diaspora.
  11. Etnopsicologia e comunità per consumatori di sostanze: Description of interventions towards consumers with different cultural backgrounds.
  12. Etnopsicologia e comunità per consumatori di sostanze e carcere: Description of interventions in some territorial emergency services, with integrated prison and territory projects.
  13. Etnopsicologia e carcere: Description of situations involving detainees with different backgrounds.
  14. Etnopsicologia, servizi sociali e tutela minori: Presentation of interventions with users of social services with different cultural origins and involving minors.
  15. Etnopsicologia nei servizi pubblici di salute mentale: Description of interventions with users of mental health services.
  16. Etnopsicologia e identità trans: prassi cliniche: Description of clinical situations involving users with different cultural backgrounds and gender variance.
  17. Valutazione e intervento con famiglie e bambini: Description of the evaluation of intervention with minors from different family origins.
