Master in Patologia e Medicina Orale e Diagnostica Odontostomatologica

The Master in Patologia e Medicina Orale e Diagnostica Odontostomatologica offers graduates in Odontoiatria and Protesi Dentaria the opportunity to learn how to intercept and diagnose pathologies of the oral cavity, soft tissues, and hard tissues. The goal is to make the dentist knowledgeable in the discipline and carry out screening and prevention activities on benign and malignant diseases of all patients, pediatric and adult.

Contenuti Formativi

The training offers frontal lessons with a monthly frequency during the academic year. It also offers the possibility of attending a department for practical and clinical activities, as well as surgical practice in the treatment of oral cavity and systemic pathologies with oral expression. Students will be able to carry out autonomous and supported formative activities on patients, following them in the diagnostic-therapeutic path. During the frontal lessons, it will be possible to discuss clinical cases.

The Master in Patologia e Medicina Orale e Diagnostica Odontostomatologica is aimed at graduates in Medicina and Chirurgia with abilitazione in Odontoiatria and graduates in Odontoiatria and Protesi Dentaria who want to acquire and deepen knowledge in the pathology of oral cavity diseases. The acquired knowledge can be applied in daily clinical practice with greater safety in dealing with more difficult clinical cases.

Programma

The Master in Patologia e Medicina Orale e Diagnostica Odontostomatologica provides in-depth training on the following modules:

• Modulo 1 – Introduzione alla Patologia e Medicina Orale: identification, diagnosis, and therapy of specific lesions of the oral district related to hard and soft tissues.
• Modulo 2 – Tecniche di anestesia locale, locoregionale e sedazione: identification of the patient's risk class, anesthesiological monitoring techniques, sedation and local and regional anesthesia techniques.
• Modulo 3 – Diagnostica istocitopatologica, citologica e immunoistochimica: histological, cytological, and immunohistochemical diagnostic methods, tissue sampling techniques, preparation techniques, and first-level and advanced diagnostic methods.
• Modulo 4 – Base: Diagnostica istocitopatologica, citologica e immunoistochimica: molecular typing diagnostic methods.
• Modulo 5 – Avanzato: Diagnostica istocitopatologica, citologica e immunoistochimica: advanced immunohistochemical diagnostic methods.
• Modulo 6 – Diagnostica per immagini: rational and ethically acceptable selection of the best available diagnostic imaging technique with the most reduced exposure possible.
• Modulo 7 – Ematologia: oncohematological diseases and their implications in oral cavity pathology.
• Modulo 8 – Endocrinologia: endocrinological diseases and their implications in oral cavity pathology.
• Modulo 9 – Patologie dell'emostasi: coagulation disorders, including drug-induced ones.
• Modulo 10 – Trattamento dell'emergenza: treatment of medical and surgical emergencies during oral surgery procedures.
• Modulo 11 – Osteonecrosi dei mascellari: correlated with the use of drugs and radiation therapy.
• Modulo 12 – Complicanze chirurgiche: in oral and maxillofacial surgery.

Erogazione della Didattica

The didactic activity is characterized by clinical activity on Tuesdays (8:00-13:00), outpatient activities for first visits and check-ups, and operating room activities every week on Wednesdays (8:00-13:00), emergency and departmental activities with consultations on rotation on Thursdays (8:00-13:00), and operating room and post-operative check-up activities on rotation. Frontal lessons will be held on Saturdays once a month.
