The Master of Engineering (Professional) by coursework only is a 1 year full-time or 2 year part-time degree offered in Mechanical, Industrial and Aeronautical Engineering.


Overview

The Master of Engineering (Professional) by coursework only is a NQF level 9 qualification. Students complete 6 elective courses, the Investigational Methods course and an Industrial Project. The following branches are offered:


  • Industrial Engineering in the field of Engineering Management
  • Industrial Engineering in the field of Systems Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering in the field of Industrial Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Aeronautical Engineering A supervisor from the School must be identified and approached prior to application.

Entry Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering 4th year or equivalent cognate qualification
  • PG Dip Eng with average >= 60%
  • The 60% may be reviewed if the applicant has relevant working experience.
  • A supervisor must be identified and approached prior to application.

University Application Process

Applications are handled centrally by the Student Enrolment Centre. Once the application is complete in terms of requested documentation, the application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment.

  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle. Please note that the Entry Requirements are a guide. Meeting these requirements does not guarantee a place. Final selection is made subject to the availability of places, academic results and other entry requirements where applicable.
