Post-Graduate Diploma in Indian Studies
The Post-Graduate Diploma in Indian Studies is a one-year academic program offered by the Centre for South Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts and Humanities. This program is designed to benefit university graduates, in-service individuals, and those preparing for competitive examinations.
Teaching Method
The diploma program comprises two semesters, with three courses taught in each semester. The primary method of instruction is classroom lectures, and teaching is assigned to experienced faculty members. Reading assignments are regularly given, and opportunities for discussion are provided during and after lectures. The medium of instruction is English. The Centre also invites guest speakers to address students on topics of academic interest.
The Centre Library
The Centre for South Asian Studies has a library with a sizeable collection of books, theses, and periodicals. Students are advised to familiarize themselves with the library's procedures.
Discipline
Students are expected to conduct their academic and non-academic affairs within the discipline and rules prescribed by the University and the Centre. Attendance requirements must be fulfilled, and failure to do so may result in being dropped from the program.
Examinations
The diploma program consists of two semesters, with three courses taught in each semester. There are two examinations for each course: mid-semester and final term. The mid-semester examination is held during the 8th week of each semester, and the final examination is held at the end of the semester. The evaluation criteria include mid-term exams (35%), home assignments (25%), and the final examination (40%). Additional assessments, such as term papers and quizzes, may be given by teachers.
Seats
The program has a total of 100 seats, with 100 seats allocated for merit-based admission and no reserved seats.

The program duration is one year, divided into two semesters.

Admission Criteria
Admission to the program is based on an interview. The date and time of the interview will be announced after the last date of submission of admission forms.
Admission Requirements
To apply for the program, candidates must submit the prescribed form, accompanied by attested copies of the following documents:
- B.A/B.Sc. result card
- Intermediate certificate
- Matriculation certificate
- Character certificate
- Two passport-size photographs
- National Identity Card Candidates who have completed their Bachelor's degree from a university other than the University of the Punjab must submit a migration certificate and pay the Punjab University registration fee.
