Introduction to the BSc(Dental Hygiene Specialization)-Post Diploma Degree Completion Program
The post-diploma program is designed for past graduates of the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma program. Three different streams are available depending on when the diploma was received.

Why Study This Program?
The program offers a fully accredited curriculum with state-of-the-art facilities, including a full-service dental clinic. It emphasizes community involvement, with students becoming community partners early in their learning by volunteering with non-profit organizations, participating in global missions, working with children and seniors, and providing services to the public.
Program Streams
- Program A: For students who graduated from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma Program between 1998 and 2001.
- Program B: For students who graduated from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma Program prior to 1998, or from 2008 onward.
- Program C: For students who graduated from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Program between 2002 and 2007.
Admission Requirements
Non-Direct Entry
This program does not allow admission directly from high school.
Academic Requirements - Program A
- Graduation from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Letter(s) of good standing from current and previous licensing bodies.
- Program A consists of the following courses (18 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - 3 units
- D HYG 418 - 3 units
- D HYG 431 - 3 units
- D HYG 440 - 3 units
- Two options (At the 300- or 400 level with the approval of Program Director) - 6 units
- A maximum of 3 units from PAC course is permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)
Academic Requirements - Program B
- Graduation from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- For University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Diploma graduates whose program was 2 years in length, applicants must have completed an additional 30 units of University transferable course weight, including:
- PSYCHOLOGY - 3 units
- SOCIOLOGY or HUMANITIES - 3 units
- ENGLISH - 6 units
- STATISTICS - 3 units
- Program B consists of the following courses (30 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - 3 units
- D HYG 418 - 3 units
- D HYG 422 - 3 units
- D HYG 431 - 3 units
- D HYG 440 - 3 units
- D HYG 468 (or equivalent health research course) - 3 units
- Four Options - 12 units (Two at the 300 or 400 level with the approval of Program Director). A maximum of 3 units from PAC course is permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)

- Graduation from the University of Alberta Dental Hygiene Program with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
- Letter(s) of good standing from current and previous licensing bodies.
- Program C consists of the following courses (30 units of course weight):
- D HYG 417 - 3 units
- D HYG 418 - 3 units
- D HYG 422 - 3 units
- D HYG 431 - 3 units
- D HYG 440 - 3 units
- D HYG 468 (or equivalent health research course) - 3 units
- SOC 210 (Or equivalent statistics course) - 3 units
- Three Options (Two at the 300 or 400 level with the approval of Program Director) - 9 units
- A maximum of 3 units from PAC courses are permitted. (D HYG 430 may be taken as an option)

Scholarships and Financial Support
The Office of the Registrar administers over $52 million each year in scholarships, awards, and financial support for undergraduate students, as well as financial and loan advising. Additional scholarships are also available for specific faculties and programs.
