Overview

The Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education - After Degree program is designed for students who already hold a university degree. The program is offered by the University of Alberta and can be taken at the university or at one of its partner universities as part of the Collaborative Off-Campus Program.

Why Study This Program?

This program is ideal for students who dream of becoming a Science teacher. Biological Sciences can be taken as a major or minor as part of a Bachelor of Secondary Education. Areas of focus include:

Program Structure

The program includes a five-week Introductory Professional Term (IPT) and a nine-week Advanced Professional Term (APT). Students will typically teach in their Major subject in both their IPT and APT. The degree is normally taken as a four-year program but can also be taken as an after-degree.

Program Requirements

Non-Direct Entry

This program does not allow admission directly from high school.

After-Degree Applicants - General Requirement

All applicants must present:

1. A three- or four-year degree from an accredited postsecondary institution
2. An Admission GPA (AGPA) of at least 2.0, or equivalent, based on the most recent graded and transferable 24 Note: Mathematics 30-1 and Mathematics 30-2 are not necessary for admission to the Faculty of Education After Degree, although Mathematics 30-1 may be a prerequisite for some required courses.

English Language Proficiency
