Master of Science with Specialization in Translational Medicine (Medicine)
Why Study This Program?
The Department of Medicine offers the degrees of MSc and PhD, with a specialization in Translational Medicine (MSc only) and a general program in Medicine. This program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in medical research, either as part of a coordinated program of training leading to the fulfillment of requirements for postgraduate training in the medical specialties or as a separate program for those proceeding from a BSc or equivalent degree. Research may be carried out in the basic sciences, epidemiology, public health sciences, or clinical sciences and may be either theoretical or applied in nature.

Program Core Competencies
The following are the program-specific requirements to satisfy the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry's Program Core Competencies:
- Students must complete at least 3 of the 4 approved courses to satisfy the critical reading/thinking and background knowledge core competencies.
- The approved courses include:
- MED 602 - Translational Research Training Program, Module I
- MED 604 - Translational Research Training Program, Module II
- MED 606 - Translational Research Training Program, Module III
- MED 608 - Translational Research Training Program, Module IV
Professional Development and Ethics
Students must complete the GPS Ethics and Academic Citizenship Training Requirement and the GPS Professional Development Requirement.
Communication
Students are required to attend Medicine Grand Rounds when possible and participate in the Me2 Majumdar Research and Quality Improvement Collaborative Day on an annual basis.
Critical Reading/Thinking and Background Knowledge
The supervisory committee will determine the relevant courses to be taken in consultation with the student. Final approval of the program will be made by the Director of Graduate Studies.
Thesis
Registration in 900-level THES is required. Students are required to prepare and defend a thesis on a topic approved by their supervisor and supervisory committee.

Tuition and Fees
