Introduction
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation offers a Graduate Certificate in Sport and Recreation Management. This program is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in the field of sport and recreation management.
Why Study This Program?
The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation offers programs leading to the degrees of Master of Arts, Master of Science, Master of Coaching, and Doctor of Philosophy. The areas available for study include:

- Coaching Studies and Sport Psychology
- Health Psychology and Behavioral Medicine
- Neuroscience and Movement

- Recreation, Sport and Tourism
- Sociocultural
Entrance Requirements
The deadline for applications is February 1. Normally, students are expected to start their program in September. The Faculty's minimum admission requirements for the master's thesis and course-based programs are:
- A four-year baccalaureate degree, or its academic equivalent, in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, or another related degree
- A minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4.0 grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on the most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent)
The Faculty's minimum admission requirements for the doctoral program are:
- A master's degree, or its academic equivalent, with a thesis in physical education, kinesiology, recreation, or another related degree
- A minimum admission grade point average of 3.0 on most 4.0 grading systems or B on most letter grading systems, based on the most recent two years of full-time study (or equivalent)
Where applicable, candidates must meet the minimum English Language Requirements set by the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.
Program Requirements
The program is delivered online and is course-based. The degree level is a certificate.
Laddering
Students who complete the certificate in good standing may be able to use the courses from the certificate to receive advanced standing in the course-based Master of Arts in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. Completion of the certificate does not guarantee admission to a master's degree program.
Entrance Requirements for the Certificate
The requirements for admission will include:
- A baccalaureate degree with a minimum AGPA of 3.0
- A minimum of 1 year of professional work experience in a related area or field of work
- A letter of intent
- A curriculum vitae or resume
- One professional reference
Curriculum
The curriculum will consist of four (4) courses valued at 3 units each for a total of 12 units. Students must choose four courses from the following list:
- KSR 711 - Organizational Analysis of Sport and Recreation
- KSR 712 - Sport and Recreation Organizations and the Public Sector
- KSR 713 - Financial Analysis and Management in Recreation and Sport Organizations
- KSR 714 - Marketing and Sponsorship in Sport and Recreation
- KSR 715 - Facilities and Event Management
- KSR 716 - Contemporary Issues in Sport and Recreation
Length of Program
All components of the certificate must be completed within 4 years from the first registration for the certificate.

The Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies administers over $29 million each year in scholarships, awards, and financial support for graduate students, as well as financial and loan advising. Additional scholarships are also available for specific faculties and programs.
