Program Overview


Master of Science in Pharmacy Program in Industrial Pharmacy

Overview

This program was developed and designed especially for pharmacists who work or are interested in the fields of research and development of pharmaceutical and health-related products, as well as production and quality assurance. The program allows pharmacists from both the industrial and government sectors to gain knowledge and experiences through modern learning technology, critical thinking, and systematic research. Coursework and thesis topic can be customized to suit the students individual needs. Learning management includes both the normal (weekday) and extra office-hours (weekend) study tracks to accommodate the students different study times. In addition, qualified students who are interested in furthering their research experience can upgrade to the doctoral program with ease.


Career Opportunities

Regardless of tracks chosen, graduates from the program can work in the following positions:


  • R&D pharmacist in charge of pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, and other health products development
  • Pharmacist who supervises production and quality assurance of pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, and other health products
  • Pharmacist who works as a plant manager/supervisor to oversee operation as well as to streamline the plants facilities to the international standards
  • Pharmacist who works in academia and various research institutes

Applicants Qualifications

Plan Kor 1 (Thesis only)
  1. Graduated with Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or equivalent from nationally recognized Schools of Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Science with Honours (First or Second Class)
  2. Passed the English test as required by Chulalongkorn University
  3. Other qualifications according to the Graduate Schools annual announcements
Plan Kor 2 (Coursework and Thesis)
  1. Graduated with Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or equivalent from nationally recognized Schools of Pharmacy or Pharmaceutical Science with GPAX not less than 2.50
  2. Passed the English test as required by Chulalongkorn University
  3. Other qualifications according to the Graduate Schools annual announcements

Program Tracks

1. Pharmaceutical Engineering Track (Weekend Study)

  • This track is appropriate for pharmacists who work in research and development, production, or quality management departments in pharmaceutical or other related healthcare product industries and for staff members who work in academia or research institutes.
  • Learning courses provide competency for industrial pharmacists.
  • Thesis can be done in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry focused on solving issues encountered in the industry, especially in their workplace.
  • All courseworks are taught on weekends (extra-office hours) to accommodate pharmacists who are still working on weekdays, especially those who work in the manufacturing plants or other full-time jobs.

2. Pharmaceutics Track (Weekday Study)

  • The program is appropriate for pharmacists who work in research and development, formulation, laboratory and hospital-scale pharmaceutical production, as well as developer of cosmeceutical and related healthcare product prototypes. The program is also suitable for staff members who work in academia or research institutes.
  • Learning courses provide competency for industrial pharmacists.
  • Thesis can be done in collaboration with pharmaceutical industry and research institutes, both local and abroad, with emphasis on problem-solving and innovation.
  • This is the weekday study program. Interested applicants must not be employed as a full-time staff or must have a permission from their workplace to take a study leave.
