Course Details

Developing And Polishing Your Novel

Overview

This course is designed for novelists who are struggling to finish their work or need guidance on editing and advancing their narrative.

Programme Details

The course starts on 22 Jan 2026 and consists of 10 weekly sessions, covering topics such as simple storytelling, narrative point of view, and editing.

Certification

Students who register for assessment and accreditation can earn 10 CATS points and a digital Certificate of Completion.

Fees

The course fee is Ł300.00, with an additional Ł60.00 fee for assessment and accreditation.

Tutor

The course is taught by Dr. Daisy McNally, a graduate of the Bath Spa MA in Creative Writing and a published author.

Course Aims

The course aims to enable students to develop their skills in writing fiction, improve their understanding of the imaginative and technical possibilities of creative writing, and enhance their powers of critical thinking and skills in written and verbal forms of expression.

Teaching Methods

The course is taught through lectures and seminars, with handouts and opportunities for workshopping.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, students will be expected to work independently as novelists, comprehend the creative tools required to write strong fiction, and plan and organise their work.

Assessment Methods

The course is assessed by a 500-word synopsis of the student's novel and 1500 words from the novel.
