Program Overview
Introduction to Operations and Information Management
The Operations and Information Management (OIM) major at the Isenberg School of Management offers a rigorous education and training that positions students for highly successful careers in two areas of corporate specialization: supply chain management and information systems. OIM students receive a comprehensive education that prepares them to analyze data, make empirically-based recommendations, and use technology-driven, process-oriented thinking to manage and improve business processes.
Career Paths in OIM
Operations managers and business analysts are central to any team, making businesses efficient and effective, basing decisions on sound empirical evidence, and developing a holistic understanding of how a business functions. OIM graduates secure high-paying jobs that offer creativity and stability.
Curriculum
To meet the graduation requirements for a BBA degree, every OIM major must complete the following coursework:
- 1 operations management core course (OIM 310 or 320)
- 1 information management core course (OIM 350)
- 3 OIM-specific concentration courses
- 3 upper-level business electives
Concentrations
OIM students can select a concentration in:
- Integrated Operations and Information Management
- Information Systems
- Supply Chain Management
OIM+
The OIM major offers courses designed to customize an academic program to meet students' goals, interests, and needs, including:
- Obtaining an Information Technology minor: 4 of the 6 courses for the IT minor also count for the OIM major
- Courses designed to prepare students for an APICS certification exam and/or PMI certification exam
- An SAP Business Suite program of study that results in an SAP Recognition Award on completion

For Isenberg majors, the Undergraduate Business Analytics Certificate program helps prepare students to analyze data and make data-driven recommendations to improve business performance.
Experiential Learning
OIM majors get hands-on experience with critical tools that represent best-in-class business computing and visualization applications, such as:
- Advanced MS Excel, MS Access, and Teradata, with Structured Query Language (SQL), Tableau, ERDPlus, and MS Visio, XLMiner for Data Mining
- SAP ERP, including modules in Sales & Distribution, Materials Management, Production Planning, FICO, Inventory and Warehouse Management, and Project Systems
- SAP Business Object (BO) Analysis, MS Project, AMPL, and ARENA
