Introduction to the Creative Arts & Industries MA Program
The Creative Arts & Industries MA program at the University of Glasgow offers students the opportunity to engage creatively and critically with a broad range of artistic and cultural practices. This undergraduate program draws on the expertise of staff from across the School of Culture and Creative Arts, specializing in film, television, music, theatre, art, design, and digital media.
Program Structure
The program is designed to provide students with a wide-ranging understanding of cultural forms and practices, as well as the links between them and how they are changing. It also focuses on the ethics and politics of cultural production, acknowledging the inequalities and exclusions present in the cultural industries. The curriculum includes practice-based and collaborative learning, with an international approach rooted in a local context.

Years 3 and 4
If students progress to Honours, they will take courses such as:
- Making culture happen
- Media & cultural policy
- Optional courses including Cultures of revolution and Cultural Work Alternatives: co-operation & collaboration
- A broad range of optional courses from across the School of Culture & Creative Arts
In the final year, students undertake independent research resulting in a written dissertation on a topic of their choice, as part of a collaborative placement project or as an independent creative project.

Summary of Entry Requirements
- SQA Higher Entry Requirements: BBBB is the minimum requirement from S5 to be reviewed for an S6 offer. Offers are not guaranteed to applicants who meet the minimum from S5. Typically, offers will be made at AAAAB by the end of S6. B at Advanced Higher is equivalent to A at Higher. Additional requirements include Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject at AA (AB or BA may be considered).
- SQA Higher Adjusted Entry Requirements: MD20: BBBB (also other target groups), MD40: AABB. Additional requirements include Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject, with successful completion of Top-Up or one of the Summer Schools.
- A-Level Standard Entry Requirements: ABB BBB, with additional requirements of A-level English or another Humanities subject.
- IB Standard Entry Requirements: 34 (6,5,5), with additional requirements of English HL6 or Humanities HL6 with English SL6.
Entry Requirements for Advanced Entry
Applicants who achieve exceptional grades may be considered for advanced entry. The requirements include:
- SQA Higher Requirements for Advanced Entry: Three Advanced Highers at Grades AAA attained in one exam year and at the first attempt. Subjects must be relevant to the courses to be taken at Level 2.
- A-Level Requirements for Advanced Entry: AAA.
- IB Requirements for Advanced Entry: 38 points.
English Language Requirements
For applicants from non-English speaking countries, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level. The requirements include:
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic and Academic Online: 6.5 with no subtests under 6.0.
- TOEFL (ibt, mybest or at home): 90 overall with Reading 20; Listening 19; Speaking 19; Writing 21.
- Pearsons PTE Academic: 59 with minimum 59 in all subtests.
- Cambridge Proficiency in English (CPE) and Cambridge Advanced English (CAE): 176 overall, no subtest less than 169.
- Oxford English Test: 7 overall with no subtest less than 6.
- LanguageCert Academic SELT: 70 overall with no subtest less than 60.
- Password Skills Plus: 6.5 overall with no subtest less than 6.0.
- Trinity College Tests: Integrated Skills in English II & III & IV: ISEII Distinction with Distinction in all sub-tests.

The program aims to produce graduates equipped with the skills and knowledge to work constructively, imaginatively, and ethically in the cultural and creative sectors or in the cultural and creative wings of organizations in other sectors.
