Program Overview
EMS Instructor Course
The EMS Instructor course is a fully online program that provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to become an entry-level Emergency Medical Services (EMS) instructor.
Course Overview
During the class, students will learn:
- What it takes to facilitate quality, student-centered lectures
- How to perform the online research necessary to present relevant and effective EMS courses
- Content in alignment with the United States Department of Transportations most current guidelines for educating EMS instructors
This is a four-month online course.
Course Structure
During each week of this four-month online program, students will have:
- An average of two hours of recorded instruction
- An hour of interactive dialogue with the instructor and classmates
- About four hours of reading and written assignments As part of the course, students will also be expected to prepare lectures and lab presentations.
Instructor Certification Information
When students successfully complete the EMS Instructor course, they will receive a certificate of completion. While Creighton does not participate in a sanctioned certification process, successful course completion will satisfy current requirements for those seeking EMS instructor certification in Nebraska. Regulatory requirements for other states may vary, so students should check with their state agency for specific EMS Instructor certification requirements.
Collaborative Community
The EMS Instructor course is intended to be a collaborative community of adult learners. This online community will include EMS professionals from a variety of backgrounds who live all over the countryand the world. Students are invited to share their EMS professional experiences and training with this group.
Admission Requirements
To register for this course, students must have an EMS certification or other emergency medical certification/licensure. Students will also need access to a reliable computer and high-speed internet.
Course Costs
The total cost, including tuition and associated University fees, for this course is $1,200. Other costs may include:
- Textbooks
- Certification or licensure fees *This is the non-credit cost. Students registering for college credit will be billed at the current credit hour rate. The cost of tuition is subject to change.
