Program Overview
The Certificate II in Automotive Vocational Preparation is a nationally recognised course that provides an introduction to the automotive fields of heavy vehicles, light vehicles, and auto-electrical. This qualification reflects the role of individuals who perform a limited range of tasks relating to identifying and inspecting mechanical and electrical components and systems of light vehicles, heavy vehicles, outdoor power equipment, bicycles, marine craft, and motorcycles.

Requirements
Entry requirements include completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher-level course. AUR20720 Start TAFE Now students must be in Year 11 & Year 12. It is highly recommended that students have attained a Sound Achievement (SA) result in year 10 numeracy and literacy subjects or equivalent prior to enrolling in this course.
Fees and Scholarships
Course tuition fees are subject to change and are reviewed annually. Subsidies reduce the cost of tuition fees for TAFE courses, reducing the amount of money you need to pay. Eligibility and conditions apply. Scholarships are available to help students pay for things like relocation, living on campus, laptops and technology, childcare, study and living expenses, travel, and more.
Fee for Service/Full Fee
Fee for Service/Full Fee occurs when the full tuition fee is charged to students. This may occur when the course is not included in government subsidy programs or the student is not eligible for a government subsidy.
Co-Contribution and Co-Contribution Concessional Fee
Some government-funded training programs require students to contribute to the cost of their education through a co-contribution fee. This fee varies depending on the course and the student's eligibility for a concessional rate.

To apply for the course, students must meet the course requirements, get a Unique Student Identifier, supply the required application documents, submit their application, and complete the bksb testing. The last day to apply is Monday, 19 January 2026.
