UEE32220 - Certificate III in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration

Overview

This qualification is for indentured apprentices who are currently employed as an apprentice Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician. The qualification covers competencies to select components, install, set up, test, fault find, repair and maintain refrigeration systems and equipment that apply to food storage and preservation, and air conditioning and air distribution equipment in buildings and premises.


Career Opportunities

On completion of the course, students will meet industry requirements for the acquisition of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician qualification. On completion, students may apply for a restricted electrical licence within 12 months.


Structure & Availability

  • The delivery is over 4 years face to face delivery and on the job training, as determined by the individual training plan.
  • Students participating in this course are individuals under a licence to train from the ESO and indentured apprentices completing a four year apprenticeship under a Training Contract between the RTO, Employer and apprentice.
  • The program is delivered in blocks of between 2 weeks and 4 weeks over the duration of the apprenticeship as determined by the individual apprentice Training Plan.
  • The maximum class size is 14.
  • A total of 932 hours is delivered face to face with further on the job training taking place throughout the 4 year apprenticeship.

Requirements

  • Completion of the bksb (Basic Key Skills Builder) online literacy, numeracy and digital literacy assessment prior to enrolment, unless the student has completed an equal or higher level course.
  • Participants are best equipped to achieve competency in this unit if they have reading, writing and numeracy skills indicated by the following scales:
    • Reading: 3
    • Writing: 3
    • Numeracy: 3

Fees & Scholarships

  • The total fee for the course is $20,559.
  • Fee for service per unit is $623.
  • RPL Fee for service per Unit is $468.
  • Apprenticeship and Traineeship Payments:
    • Fee for Service/Full Fee occurs when the full tuition fee is charged to students.
    • Co-contribution: Some government-funded training programs provide a contribution that reduces the cost of training.
    • Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s Funding: Covers the cost of training for employers who commence an eligible new or existing apprentice or trainee in a priority qualification.
    • Free Construction Apprenticeships for Over 25s: Available for a range of construction and electrical apprenticeships which are aligned to state and nationally agreed priorities.
