The Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (Honours) is a comprehensive program designed to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the theoretical and technical knowledge in the clinical disciplines of laboratory medicine. - Professional Recognition: The program is accredited by the Australian Institute of Medical and Clinical Scientists.
- Residential Schools: Many units have compulsory residential schools in Rockhampton to ensure students acquire the technical skills of a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
- Work Integrated Learning: The program includes 560 hours of work placement in an accredited pathology laboratory.
Duration and Timing of Placement Units
Students will complete three placements throughout the program:
- Year 2: 180 hours of work placement in Term 2
- Year 3: 180 hours of work placement in Term 2
- Year 4: 200 hours of work placement in Term 2

Placements are located throughout Queensland, and students may be required to travel at their own cost.

Fees and Scholarships
The indicative first-year fee for the program is $11,522 (CSP). The program has Commonwealth Supported Places (CSPs) available, and students may be eligible for a HECS-HELP government loan.
