Graduate Diploma of Aviation

The Graduate Diploma of Aviation will provide students with the aeronautical experience required for a career as a commercial pilot under the standard of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) 142 Integrated Program.

Overview

Build skills as a pilot, starting with short flights constrained within the aerodrome training area and circuit area, right through to the commercial pilot licence level, where students will conduct long-distance flights and visit multiple aerodromes in regional and outback Australia. Students will be required to attend a flight training provider approved by the Head of Course in order to complete this course.

During this course, students will develop critical reflection and self-analysis skills, as well as analytic, communication, and presentation skills. Students will also gain the aeronautical experience required to apply for a Recreational Pilot Licence, Private Pilot Licence, Command Instrument Rating, and Commercial Pilot Licence.

Admission Requirements

To enrol in this course, students must:

• Successfully complete the first year of the Bachelor of Aviation
• Hold a minimum of Class 2 CASA Aviation Medical
• Be eligible to hold an Australian Security Identification Card
• Successfully complete an interview with the Head of Course or designated academic staff member

Career Opportunities

This course prepares students for aviation careers in the air transportation industry as a commercial pilot. When studied in conjunction with CQUniversitys Bachelor of Aviation (Flight Operations), students will be prepared to work as a commercial pilot, in other aviation careers in the air transportation industry, or in a cadetship/traineeship offered by some airlines.

Fees and Scholarships

The indicative first-year fee for this course is $152,720. Students may be eligible for FEE-HELP, an Australian Government loan scheme that helps eligible students pay their tuition fees.

Study Experience

The course offers practical experiences, including over 200 hours of total flight training and simulator time. Students will benefit from authentic learning experiences, part-time study, flexible online study, and industry-relevant training.
