Computer Science Teacher Certification (Online)

The Computer Science Teacher Certification is a 15-credit online program designed for educators who want to confidently teach computer science at the elementary or secondary level. This flexible program is designed for educators with no prior tech background and helps them build a strong foundation in programming, computing systems, data, and digital literacy.

Program Description

The program explores how to design inclusive, engaging instruction for all learners, and helps educators integrate computer science into their current subject area or transition into a dedicated computer science role. The program provides hands-on experience with tools and platforms that students love and develops strategies to make computing accessible and exciting.

Program Format

• The program is offered entirely online.
• Courses are offered in an asynchronous online format.
• One to two courses are offered per 7-14 week session.
• The program can be completed within 3 semesters.

College or School

• The program is offered by the College for Education and Engaged Learning.

Admission Requirements

• Equivalent of a U.S. bachelors degree.
• Minimum undergraduate GPA: 3.0
• Applicants with non-U.S. degrees must review U.S. degree equivalency information.
• F1/J1 visa seeking students are not eligible for this program.

• Teacher Certification: A copy of your P3, K6, or Subject-Area Standard Teacher Certification, if seeking New Jersey State certification.
