Recording Arts and Production

The BA in Recording Arts and Production at Montclair State University is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the world of sound. This program combines creativity with hands-on experience, providing students with access to cutting-edge technology and a curriculum that keeps pace with the industry.


Program Overview

The program explores the art and science of music through courses in Music Recording, Digital Audio Production, and Songwriting, developing a strong foundation in both technical ability and creative expression. Students will also delve into Sound Design for Film and Television, Gaming, Foley Sounds FX, and advanced production techniques, expanding their expertise across multiple areas of the field.


Career Opportunities

Upon completion of the program, students will be prepared for careers as a recording engineer, live audio mixer, sound designer, film mixer, and Foley/ADR specialist, ready to make their mark in music, film, television, and beyond. Students will also have a digital portfolio of their work, created alongside the program's outstanding faculty, to present at their first job interview.

Admissions and Audition Requirements
