Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, DNP Advanced Practice Track
Program Overview
Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, DNP Advanced Practice Track
The Family Primary Care Nurse Practitioner track prepares students to practice at an advanced level, providing patient-centered care to individuals and families across the lifespan. This includes pediatric through older adult populations within the context of the community. Family nurse practitioners (FNPs) typically provide comprehensive care to patients in ambulatory and outpatient settings, including preventative health care, health promotion, disease prevention, and health education and counseling. They also assess, diagnose, and treat acute/episodic and chronic illnesses.
Program Overview
The development of the curriculum is based on the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties' (NONPF) Nurse Practitioner Role Core Competencies and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education.
