Introduction to the MSc Future Vehicle Technologies Program

Program Outcomes

On successful completion of both the taught and dissertation stages, students will be able to:


  • Create solutions to future challenges in the field of vehicle electrification by employing major concepts of mathematics, physics, and engineering.
  • Predict solutions to typical constrained multi-physics engineering problems at the absence of actual data by employing a range of engineering computational tools.
  • Produce innovative sustainable solutions underpinned by the principles of mathematics and engineering sciences together with computer-aided analysis to tackle the future challenges of hybrid, electric, and autonomous vehicles.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must have:


  • A 2:2 (lower second-class honors) degree or equivalent in an engineering subject
  • Equivalent overseas degree recognized by Aston University
  • Evidence of a background in automotive engineering, chemical engineering, control and systems engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, energy engineering, environmental engineering, industrial and manufacturing engineering, or mechanical engineering
  • A professional reference
  • An official academic transcript of university grades to date
  • A completed application form
