Introduction to the Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine

The Dr. Kiran C. Patel College of Allopathic Medicine is a prestigious institution dedicated to providing high-quality education in the field of medicine. The college offers a range of programs, including the Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography, which is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in this exciting and rapidly evolving field.


Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography

The Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography program is a 24-month program that combines 12 months of instruction with 12 months of clinical externship. The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in both Adult Echocardiography and Noninvasive Vascular Study.


Program Overview

The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in cardiovascular sonography, including both cardiac and vascular sonography. Students will gain extensive hands-on experience in high-tech laboratories, including the use of real-world ultrasound machines and a 3D echocardiography simulator.


Admission Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography program, students must have completed 30 semester hours of prerequisite education coursework with a cumulative GPA of 2.60 on a 4.0 grading scale. Prerequisites include:


  • Arts & Humanities: 6 credits
  • Mathematics (at or above MATH 1040): 6 credits
  • Social & Behavioral Sciences: 6 credits
  • Written Composition (at or above COMP1500): 6 credits
  • Science: 6 credits

Tuition and Fees

The tuition and fees for the program include:


  • Initial Acceptance Fee: $500
  • Initial Seat Deposit: $250
  • Initial Pre-registration Fee: $250
  • First Semester: tuition and fees, less the $1,000 deposits previously paid
  • Student Services Fee: $500 per semester
  • HPD Access Fee: $145 per year

Financial Aid

Curriculum

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography program includes courses such as:


  • Health Care and Aging
  • Ultrasound Physics
  • Venous Testing
  • Correlative Imaging and Cross-sectional Anatomy

Program Outcomes

Program graduates have achieved a 100% passing rate on the ARDMS SPI, RVT, and RDCS-AE exams, as well as a 100% employment rate.


Experiential Learning/Internships

Cardiovascular sonography majors enjoy clinical internships at affiliated organizations, including UF Health Shands Hospital, BayCare Health System, and The Cleveland Clinic.

The Bachelor of Science in Cardiovascular Sonography program is designed to prepare students for professional licensure in the field of cardiovascular sonography.
