Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy Post-Professional Program
The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) Post-Professional program at Nova Southeastern University is designed for practicing Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) who wish to advance their careers and become leaders in respiratory care. This online program allows working professionals to deepen their knowledge in subjects such as sleep medicine, legal issues, and evidence-based practice, all while receiving continuous support from instructors and having 24/7 access to lectures and materials.
Program Overview
The BSRT Post-Professional program is a 120-credit program that can be completed in as little as 18 months. It is available to start in the fall, winter, or summer term, with applications accepted year-round. The program is delivered online, providing flexibility for busy schedules.

Admissions Information
Admission into the program requires:
- Holding NBRC registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
- Currently holding a license to practice respiratory therapy, where applicable.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale from all undergraduate work.
- Completion of all prerequisite coursework with a minimum grade of C, from a regionally accredited college or university.
Application Process
Applicants must submit:
- A completed online application along with a non-refundable application fee.
- Official college transcripts, certificates, and/or diploma-based transcripts from all universities/institutions attended.
- For applicants with foreign coursework, evaluations for U.S. institutional equivalence from approved services.
Financial Aid
The program offers a Block Grant of 45 credits for NBRC-registered RRTs. Various loans, scholarships, and grants are available to qualified students to help with the cost of education.
Professional Licensure Disclosure
The BSRT program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (COARC), which is required for graduation and to sit for the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) exams necessary for licensure in all 50 states. However, students should ensure that the degree meets the licensure requirements in their state of residence, as these can vary and change frequently.
