Requirements for the Applied Artificial Intelligence Graduate Certificate
A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required, and at most one course with a grade of C may be allowed towards the certificate.
- Four (4) graduate-level, 8-week, project-based courses (12 credits):
- ITCS 5153: Applied Artificial Intelligence (3 credits)
- ITCS 6114: Algorithms and Data Structures (3 credits)
- ITCS 5154: Applied Machine Learning (3 credits)
- ITCS 6100: Big Data Analytics for Competitive Advantage (3 credits)
- OR ITCS 6160: Database Systems (3 credits)
- Total = 12 Credit Hours
- Note: ITIS 5101 - Fundamentals of Programming and ITIS 5135 Web-Based Application Design and Development are available for those without a tech background.
Admissions & Requirements
- Bachelors degree from a college or university accredited by a US Department of Education-recognized institutional accreditor.
- Undergraduate GPA 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- The GPA requirement may be waived if an applicant is currently enrolled and in good standing in a graduate degree program at UNC Charlotte.
- Current working knowledge of two higher-level languages, including at least one procedural language. Fundamentals of Programming introduction courses are available for those without a technical background.
- The following minimal background in mathematics is also required: two semesters of calculus and one semester of discrete structures. Individuals who have worked at a high professional level in the computer industry may be able to substitute work experience for specific subject area admission requirements.
