Program Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Public Health (BSPH) program is designed to prepare students with knowledge and skills in the core concepts of public health, with a concentration in Community Health. The planned course of study adopts an interdisciplinary focus and includes the development of public health competencies through the successful completion of core coursework, complementary coursework, and experiential learning opportunities. Students in the BSPH program are also eligible to pursue disciplinary honors through the Public Health and Health Systems Management Honors Program.

Program Details

• The Bachelor of Science in Public Health coursework will provide students with a solid foundation in the core disciplines of public health (health behavior, epidemiology, administration, environmental health, and biostatistics).
• Internship and capstone experiences will allow students to integrate and demonstrate their knowledge and analytical skills in research and practice settings.
• Applicants who satisfy freshman or transfer requirements for admission to the University and are interested in the BSPH can declare the Pre-Public Health Major (PRPH).
• The program is offered by the College of Health and Human Services.

Public Health and Health Systems Management Honors Program

Students in the BS in Public Health (BSPH) and BS in Health Systems Management (HSMT) programs are eligible to participate in the Honors Program during their upper division years of study. Consideration for admission to the Honors Program may be initiated by the student or by any faculty member in the Departments of Epidemiology and Community Health or Health Management and Policy.
