Program Overview


Program Overview

The Department of Theatre inspires students to expand their vision of the world and themselves, preparing them for leadership as practitioners, educators, and artists. The Department of Theatre offers a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, with concentrations in one of the following areas: Performance; Design/Tech; Directing, Dramaturgy and Dramatic Writing; Applied Theatre; and Theatre Education. The B.A. degree allows the flexibility to pursue a double major. A Minor in Theatre and a Certificate in Musical Theatre are also offered.


Applied Theatre Concentration

This concentration is designed for students who wish to pursue careers as teaching artists at theatre companies, and in fields such as theatre for social justice/change, and community-based arts engagement.

Department Overview

The Department of Theatre is one of five creative units within the College of Arts + Architecture, an artistic community that is unique in the Carolinas.


Student Experience

Students have the opportunity to participate in multiple theatre productions a year, from acclaimed classics to bold new works including a biennial musical.
