Bachelor of Sport Management

The Bachelor of Sport Management is a comprehensive undergraduate program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in sport management. This program is offered by Victoria University, a leading institution in the field of sports education.

Overview

The Bachelor of Sport Management program provides students with a thorough understanding of the principles and practices of sport management, including planning, human resource management, finance, leadership, marketing, and performance evaluation. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be confident and ready to manage professional sport organizations, major sporting events, and sporting facilities. They will also be prepared to manage community sport programs, social development projects, outdoor adventure activities, and active recreation experiences.

Duration and Delivery

The program is delivered over three years, with a total of 288 credit points required for completion. The delivery mode is in-person, with classes held at the City Tower campus.

Fees

The tuition fee for international students is AU$18,400 per semester.

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following entry criteria:

• Completion of an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (VCE or equivalent) with a study score of at least 25 in English (EAL) or 20 in any other English.
• Completion of an Australian Advanced Diploma or Diploma (or equivalent).
• IELTS (or equivalent) with an overall score of 6.0 and no band less than 6.0 in Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking.
• Completion of a Foundation course or equivalent.

Course Structure

The program consists of 24 units, with 96 credit points of First Year core units and 192 credit points of core units. The core units cover a range of topics, including financial literacy, business data analytics, marketing theory, business law, and ethics.

Majors

Students can choose from two specialist majors:

• Sport & active communities: This major explores community sport and its relationship with elite and professional sport.
• Outdoor recreation leadership: This major provides students with the skills and knowledge necessary to plan, organize, and program complex outdoor adventure activities.

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be able to:

1. Contextualize business knowledge and principles in sport and active recreation organizational settings.
2. Critically analyze organizational challenges and adapt skills to effectively manage business, sport, and active recreation enterprises.
